2 CONC shospitalized with his neuro fibroma in the Williamsburg Hospital for theInsane.  He respecte

2 CONT My Aunt Jenny wrote in notes she wrote for her Dad's funeral that afterthe death of his mothe
2 CONC r at age 10, he was abandoned and left onhis own .He had no education at all except for atten
2 CONC dingschool one day.  At first,he sold papers for spending money.  He made his home with a Dr
2 CONC . Galt ofSuffolk  ( a relative of the Dr. Galt he was named for).     This manwanted to legal
2 CONC ly adopt him but his father would not allow it so he livedwith them until he reached 14 year
2 CONC s of age. He then moved to Portsmouth,Virginia and lived with his sister Jane Furman Hutchins
2 CONC . He went to workat the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth. His father remarried in1906.  H
2 CONC e (Dick)  met his wife in 1913.
2 CONT It is important to note that when he married he listed his mother'snameas Sadie.  (?)  His si
2 CONC ster Martha Jane Furman Hutchens  named one ofher daughters Sadie Irene. The current family c
2 CONC an not figure this oneout!
2 CONT Present in1920 and 1930 Federal Census records.
2 CONT He is present in the 1900 federal census for Isle of Wight County,Virginiawith his family.
2 CONT He died when my mother was just 17 so I never met my Grandfather but Iknow from his childre

2 CONT Record in archives in Richmond Virginia shows a Jehu B. Furman married in1853 in Virginia. Re
2 CONC el 15 Vital Statistics.   No wife's  name is listedbecause the page was torn.  This record wa
2 CONC s from the minister who marriedJehu in Elizabeth City County, Virginia whose name was Nathani
2 CONC el L.Giddings. Further copies of the records reveals his spouse as  Martha AnnInsley.
2 CONT He is also recorded in a land deed transaction in page 256 Isle of WightVirginia, a Brooks Ro
2 CONC bert transfer of deed B & S  Furman, Jehu B. in  14December 1886.  On March 14, 1898 he is li
2 CONC sted as deceased on a deedselling the property  in his name along  with surviving wife and hi
2 CONC schildren.
2 CONT He apparently died  after suffering a stroke since his cause of death islisted as paralysis
2 CONC . The death record also verifies his parentsidentities as valid.
